Mentorship for Women by Women

On 26 October 2022, Girls Go Circular – in collaboration with the European Commission, Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) – is organising the second edition of the Women and Girls in STEM Forum. The event will gather researchers, practitioners, and influential stakeholders in STEM and gender equality and connect them with the students participating in Girls Go Circular’s innovative learning programme.

The second edition’s theme is â€śEmpowering Girls in Science and Technology”. Girls and young women will have a pivotal role in the event and inspire their peers and the audience, engaging in discussions on eliminating gender bias from STEM with EU policymakers, scientists, and entrepreneurs and sharing success stories to inspire the future EU action on these themes. The Women and Girls in STEM Forum will also celebrate the participation of thousands of girls from 11 European countries in the Girls Go Circular project and offer them the opportunity to receive mentoring from leading professionals.

🎯As part of the programme, we are looking for inspiring women around 25-35 years old who have chosen their careers in STEM or ICT and would like to volunteer their time in talking to the school students from their country in the project  Girls Go Circular.

The selected mentor should be a native speaker of one of the project languages: Romanian, Serbian, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Lithuanian, Slovenian or Ukrainian.

The mentorship session will be held online, for 1 -1.5h, at 14:00 CET on 26 October.

The idea of the mentorship session in the native language is for students to have an opportunity to meet an inspiring woman from their country and hear her story. The mentor will share her personal experience in education and career paths:

- Why has she chosen this field?
- Has she ever been affected by the stereotypes built by society? If so, how she did overcome it?
- Was she ever doubting her choice?
- What advice could she give – what to do or maybe what not to do?

If you fit the above criteria and are interested in shaping the careers of girls and young women in your country, please send us an email to [email protected] by 7 August describing your interest.
